The session

How an animal session works

Animals receive Reiki readily. They do not need to be told what is happening, and they do not need to hold still. At the time you booked, I send Reiki energy to the animal you named, at the location you gave me, for the full 60 minutes. The animal rests, sleeps, eats, moves around or continues its usual routine.

People book for a dog that is anxious or unsettled, a cat adjusting to a new home, an older animal, a horse that has had a hard season, or simply for an animal they love. Tell me in a line what you would like me to focus on, or leave it to me.

Each animal responds in its own way. Some owners notice their animal settling or resting more deeply during or after the session, and for others it is quieter. Your animal does not have to do anything for the session to reach it.

Where the animal will be

The location for the session

When you book, give the location where the animal will be during the session. This can be a home, barn, stable, ranch, pasture or another property in the United States. It does not have to be your own address. Many horses are kept somewhere that belongs to someone else, and that is the address to give.

The location is private booking information. It is visible only to me, it is never published, and it is never placed in a calendar file or an email. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly how it is handled.

Which animals

Dogs, cats, horses, and other animals

Dogs

Dogs receive Reiki while resting, sleeping, moving around the home, or staying near the people they know. Owners often book with a focus on calm, adjustment, comfort, or an older dog’s wellbeing.

Cats

Cats receive Reiki without being held or confined. They sleep, move to another room, come back, or carry on exactly as they please. Nothing about the session requires the cat to stay still.

Horses

Horses stay in their usual setting during the session. See remote Reiki for horses for barns, stables, ranches and pastures.

Other animals receive remote Reiki too, as long as the owner or authorized caretaker can give the animal’s name, a short description, and the location where it will be.

Common questions

Animal Reiki questions

What does my animal need to do during the session?

Nothing. The animal stays in its usual environment and carries on as normal. It can rest, sleep, eat or move around. No particular behaviour is required.

What information do you need?

The animal’s name, the type of animal, a breed or short description, and the location where the animal will be during the session. Age and a line about what you would like me to focus on are optional.

Why do you need the location?

It is where I direct the session. For a horse that is often a barn, stable or pasture that belongs to someone else, and that is the address to give. The location is private booking information, visible only to me, and never placed in a calendar file, an email or analytics.

Does animal Reiki replace my veterinarian?

No. Animal Reiki is a spiritual-wellness service. It does not diagnose, treat, prescribe for or replace care from a licensed veterinarian. If an animal is injured or unwell, contact a veterinarian first.

How often should an animal have Reiki?

For most animals I recommend another session in about two weeks, and sooner if you feel they need it. You know your animal, and you decide.

Animal Reiki is a spiritual-wellness service. It does not diagnose, treat, prescribe for, or replace care from a licensed veterinarian.

If an animal appears injured, seriously ill, poisoned, unable to breathe normally, having seizures, or experiencing another urgent problem, contact a veterinarian or emergency animal hospital. The Animal Wellness Disclaimer sets out the full scope of the service.
